How to get the best airfares
1Plan Ahead - If you have the opportunity, try to book a flight two or three months in advance. Airline tickets tend to go up rapidly during the last month.
2Check for Last Minute Deals - Often airline tickets are sold off at rock bottom prices when airline companies aren't able to fill a particular flight.
3Be flexible - If you don't have specific travel dates you should check multiple date combinations, especially weekday flights can be much cheaper.
4Book Immediately - This may seem silly, but because fares change so rapidly, you often find the airfare rates gone when checking the same flight only hours later.
5Look for Neighboring Airports - Especially discount airlines often service smaller airports, so this can make a big difference.
6International Airfares - For non-domestic flights it is the best to book three months prior to your flight date, but at least 21 days earlier. Prices for international tickets may rise fast after that.
